Another highlight of your stay in Cairo is the visit of the Egyptian Museum. The museum tour runs clockwise from the Old Kingdom to the Late Period. The undisputed highlights are Tutankhamun's grave treasures, such as his richly decorated mask and gilded sarcophagus.

The mighty citadel stands on Saladin Square. There, high above the city, sits Cairo's most outstanding sight, the Alabaster Mosque. A short visit to the Al-Hussein Mosque is also worthwhile. Important note: Visiting the mosque with off-the-shoulder clothing and uncovered knees is not permitted.

However, the most important Islamic mosque, just opposite the bazaar, is the El-Azhar Mosque “The Blooming One”. It is not only a mosque but also a university that is over 1,000 years old and is one of the most important and oldest Islamic universities in the world.
